A full art exhibit made solely out of Legos? Yes please! My kids, especially my little boy, loves Legos and everything to do with them, so I knew this was something we had to check out.
The Art Of The Brick is an exhibit at the Kimball Art Center in Park City, and was created by artist Nathan Sawaya. He is known as the “brick artist” because he chooses to build his creations out of Legos.
“I use this as a medium because I enjoy seeing people’s reactions to artwork created from something with which they are familiar,” Sawaya said. “Everyone can relate to this toy that many children have at home. I want to elevate this simple plaything to a place it has never been before.”
This is a great exhibit for kids of all ages. There are signs that say do not touch the exhibit, so just make sure to keep an eye on your kids. It is a quick exhibit to walk through, so kids won’t get bored easy like with other art exhibits.
My son’s favorite creation was “gray”, while my daughter enjoyed the castle “pop-up book”. I loved seeing the “paintings”, and the little boy looking at his reflection in the water.
Art Of The Brick will be on display until April 21st, 2013 at the Kimball Art Center, located at 638 Park Avenue in Park City. Hours and directions can be found on their website.
