Massage Envy Utah and the Arthritis Foundation have joined forces to host Healing Hands for Arthritis, a one‐day event to build awareness and raise funds to fight arthritis.

On September 18, Massage Envy Utah will donate $10 from every one‐hour massage or facial to the Arthritis Foundation. Now in its third year, this one‐day nationwide event has raised more than $1M for the Arthritis Foundation. Clinics along the Wasatch Front will be responsible for raising $1,111.11 at each of their 15 locations.

“There’s no better way to give back than to treat yourself, a friend or family member to a relaxing and rejuvenating massage or facial,” said Ren Waters, regional developer. “We strongly encourage the Utah community to come out on September 18 to help fight arthritis, a disease that affects 50 million Americans and is America’s leading cause of disability.”

To make an appointment for the Healing Hands for Arthritis event, contact your local Massage Envy. Reservations are now being accepted on a first‐come, first‐serve basis. All proceeds donated during Healing Hands for Arthritis will support the Arthritis Foundation’s nationwide efforts to prevent, control and cure arthritis. Murad®, Massage Envy Spa’s exclusive skin care partner, will donate 10 percent of all sales from their products sold at the Massage Envy Spa location in Orem during the event to the Arthritis Foundation. Additionally, Wyndmere and BioFreeze will donate 10 percent of all sales from their products from all Massage Envy locations.

“We are excited to partner with Massage Envy to bring attention to arthritis. Healing Hands for Arthritis will provide support for arthritis education, research, advocacy and other vital programs and services,” said Rick Bell, managing director of cause development.

Massage Envy and the Arthritis Foundation share a common understanding about the devastating effects of arthritis on the body and the potential for massage therapy to relieve and control certain symptoms. Massage therapy can play an important role in alleviating the pain and swelling caused by arthritis, improving flexibility and circulation and reducing stress and anxiety.

In addition to hosting Healing Hands for Arthritis Walk®, Massage Envy is a national sponsor of the Arthritis Foundation’s signature event, Arthritis Walk®. Massage Envy owners from across the country have been and continue to have a presence at their local Arthritis Walk events to share information about the benefits of massage therapy, provide chair massages and support the Arthritis Foundation’s mission.

  1. It is completely possible to have either kind of arthritis in several joints at once. Commonly affected joints for osteo arthritis are load bearing joints such as hips and knees, and sometimes the spine, but any joints in the body may be affected.
