It’s that spooky time of year when everybody starts thinking ghosts and other spooky things, but did you know Grimm Ghost Tours is open year round?!

We have been on their Old Town Tour and Paranormal investigations, and had a blast every time. Read our reviews here:

I also recently attended a paranormal investigation at Fort Douglas. Chad attended the one at Asylum 49, and ever since then I’ve been “dying” to check it out. I was finally able to a few weekends ago and can’t wait to go on the next one!

The best thing about Grimm Ghost Tours is that they make you feel welcome and at ease. I thought I was going to have a panic attack sitting in the parking lot before the Fort Douglas paranormal investigation, because even watching ghosty shows on TV scare me to the point I can’t sleep. I had wondered what I had gotten into, and after it was over I felt silly for being afraid.

Grimm Ghost Tours staff is very welcoming and shows you how to use the ghost equipment, and recommendations on which room might be the best place to start. We chose to use the metal rods and the light machine that detects energy when touched or when somebody/something is close to it. We brought our own voice recorders, so we tried to get an EVP recording, but as far as I can tell we didn’t get anything. We also didn’t see anything, but it was very interesting to see the light turn on the machine, and when we asked if somebody was there, the light responded as if somebody had touched it. We started asking it yes and no questions (touch the light once for yes, twice for no), and something was definitely responding.

Because you are on the paranormal tour late at night and usually for about five hours, it’s really fun to meet other people that also enjoy the paranormal. We met some really interesting people with fascinating stories, and hope they are also on the next paranormal tour we attend!

Another one of my favorite parts of the paranormal investigation is that we were able to go into parts of the Fort Douglas Museum that regular museum visitors aren’t allowed in. My favorite part was a basement room beneath the basement, the “Poker Room” or “Smoke Room” where soldiers would go to gamble and smoke cigars. We would have never been able to go into and see that room on a regular visit. The museum curator took us on a tour of the entire place, and told a lot of the history of Fort Dougas. Very, very cool!

The “Poker/Smoke Room” where the soldiers would go to gamble and smoke cigars. Women were not welcome in this room, so of course this was our first room to attempt to have a paranormal experience!
