I have always wanted to attend the RootsTech Family History Conference, and this year I am finally going to go!

I am proud to announce that I have been chosen as a RootsTech Lifestyle Ambassador, and I couldn’t be more excited! Stay tuned to Enjoy Utah between now and then for updates, exciting news and other information about RootsTech from a first-timer! Family History has been a passion of mine my entire life. I remember sitting next to my grandma on the couch in her living room, hearing her tell stories of her life as a child. The sound of a clock ticking, and the chime every 15 minutes, takes me back to those days. Little did I know that by listening to grandma tell her childhood stories, I was participating in Family History. I always imagined it as pedigree charts and death dates. As I got older, I realized that documenting your family history and stories is also a big part of it.

That’s why I’m so excited to attend RootsTech; it brings that family history off of the pedigree charts and makes it more real, and takes your research one step further.

What I am loving so far about RootsTech:

  • badges_300X3004The schedule of classes
I love that this conference is for any level of family history researchers. It’s not just for the advanced. They have basic classes teaching how to get started, and then advanced classes on a lot of the tech and apps used in family history.
  • The keynote speakers
This year the keynote speakers will be Laura W. Bush and Jenna Bush Hager (wife and daughter of President George W. Bush) and Utah’s own David Archuleta.
  • The mobile app
Upon registering for RootsTech 2015, I was sent a link to download the mobile app. This app was a great way to look over the schedule ahead of time, set what classes I wanted to attend, and get excited even before opening day!
