Eva’s Bakery in Salt Lake City

2014-11-08 20.33.37

Last night I was lucky enough to try the new three-course dinner menu at Eva’s Bakery, and my mouth is still watering today! Mention promo code EvasBakery4Dinner before Thanksgiving 2014 and get 20% off the dinner menu.

Eva’s Bakery is located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City on 155 So. Main Street. It’s very convenient to get to if you are riding trax, and if you are not there is parking just East and behind the bakery in the pay parking structure. Visit Eva’s Bakery website for hours.

Owner and chef, Charlie Perry, opened Eva restaurant (also located on Main Street), and then Eva’s Bakery, in honor of his great grandmother Eva Coombs. He spent a lot of time by her side in the kitchen, and inherited her passion for French cooking and respect for ingredients. In France, much of their nightlife is spent sitting in a restaurant or bakery enjoying fine food. Eva’s Bakery hopes to bring this new kind of nightlife to downtown Salt Lake City.

Eva’s Bakery has been open for a while now for breakfast and lunch, but just recently introduced their new hours and dinner menu. Because the menu is created with local, fresh ingredients available, visit frequently to experience the culinary masterpieces that Perry creates.

STARTERS:

Organic Green Salad: For my starter, I chose the organic green salad, which had bleu cheese, pomegranate, grapes and red wine vinaigrette dressing. The pomegranate was a delicious, sweet surprise to my taste buds.

“Margarita” Pizza: My husband loves spicy foods, and loved this as for starter. It came with jalapenos on it, and was large enough to share between two people. The crust on it was absolutely spot on!

ENTREES:

Pan Roasted Halibut: I almost ordered the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Breast, but because I always order chicken when we go out to dinner, I decided to be adventurous and try the Pan Roasted Halibut. It was served over a creamy carrot orzo risotto, with citrus salad & herb vinaigrette. It was absolutely delicious, and I definitely made the right decision! I am not usually a fan of anything carrot, but the risotto was fabulous, and one of my favorite things on the plate!

My husband order the special, which was a steak served with fingerling potatoes. That was also delicious, especially the white gravy over the dish.

DESSERTS:

Crème Brulee: You can never go wrong with a good crème brulee! Many times when we order crème brulee from restaurants, the caramelized top is overly torched, but at Eva’s Bakery it was pleasantly just right, and verifies the professional level of chef/owner Charlie Perry. It was served with a topping of fresh blueberries and strawberries.
