Holiday Magic at This Is The Place Heritage Park

Second Annual: Christkindlmarkt       
December 5, 6, 7     11 am to 8 pm
Join us for a holiday experience you won’t find anywhere else in Utah!

Christkindlmarkt                      Opens Daily at 11 am

  • German Entertainment Daily
  • Fabulous Vendor Booths specializing in European wares
  • Tantalizing food
  • Visit St. Nicholas in an Alpine Tent
  • Activities for children – story time, games and crafts
  • Live Reindeer

Markt Eroffnung:  Thursday December 5 at 12 p.m.

  • Kick off Event – Market Opens
  • People dressed in German regalia
  • The Christkindl Angel arrives with a Professional Town Crier
  • Choir of Jr. High students
  • The Official Proclamation of the Christkindlmarkt-SLC will be read

St. Lantern Parade:  Thursday December 5 at 6 p.m.

  • President Dieter F. Uchtdorf will lead the parade and deliver the St. Martin story and Christmas message and then light the Christmas tree
  • 160 Member Children’s Choir will sing
  • Parade featuring St. Martin and his horse, banners, and children with lanterns will walk in a processional through This Is The Place Heritage Park
  • At conclusion of program, children and students will join together in a German tradition of sharing sweet bread

St. Nicholas Parade:   Friday, December 6th at 6 p.m.

  • December 6 marks the actual St. Nicholas Day
  • St. Vincent's choir will perform along with the Basque Dancers of Utah
  • A parade with giant gingerbread men, a drum line and children with lit objects will parade through the Park and end on the Plaza for a celebration of the goodness of St. Nicholas
  • Parade to celebrate a Community Shoe Drive.   One school collected 475 pairs of shoes already!
  • At the conclusion of the program, all of the students involved in the performance will join together in a German tradition of sharing sweet bread. 

Tannenbaum Parade:   Saturday, December 7th at 6 p.m.

  • The Canyon Rim Charter Academy which is a service/ art and learning school has designed a program to celebrate the tradition of the Christmas tree.   This will include a dance of Christmas trees which will be a part of the parade.
  • The Skyline High School  Marching Band will also be a part of the parade along with giant gingerbread men, German banners and other children holding lit objects of Christmas
  • At the conclusion of the program, all of the students involved in the performance will join together in a German tradition of sharing sweet bread. 

AND DON’T FORGET – GREAT SHOPPING EACH DAY FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM
