LAYTON, UT –  Paul Velasquez is a fixture in the Layton community--he has been here for over 30 years and runs J & P Barbershop in Layton, which he took over from his father at retirement. His many clients that depend on him for a good haircut as well as his extensive family know him as a loving, caring friend, husband, father, and grandfather.

On July 24th 2013 while ATV'ing in Farmington canyon Paul hit a patch of gravel, causing him to lose control of his vehicle and plunge 60 feet over a guardrail.  He sustained severe injuries, fracturing his pelvis, ribs and right arm.  Miraculously, he survived, and was airlifted to the hospital where he underwent hours of surgery.

As a small business owner, Paul and his shop are his source of income.  The community is rallying around him in his time of need to raise funds through a fundraising golf tournament to be held September 14th, 2013 at Swan Lakes Golf Course.  Funds will help Paul cover medical bills and living expenses until such time as he can return to work.

Tee times for this Four-person Scramble 9-hole tournament start at 9 AM.  Lunch will be served at noon.  Several contests including longest drive and closest to the pin are planned as well as a raffle and an auction.
