Mystery Date Night

Mystery Date Night:  Dating, Drama, Dinner and Dessert
BYU’s Museum of Peoples and Cultures (MPC) invites couples to be part of the mystery of “The Disappearance of the Weaving Swords.”  This date night consists of an evening at the Museum where couples will not only be involved in the solving of a crime, but possibly be guilty of committing one. Couples are welcomed to join us on Friday, July 27th at 6:00 p.m. to uncover this mystery.

As couples purchase their tickets, they will receive character “identities”—which include a name, character traits, and costume suggestions.  Upon arrival at the MPC, participants will receive a brief tour of the crime scene before sitting down for dinner.  Throughout dinner, the story unfolds and clues will be revealed in order to help participants solve the mystery.  Each person is given a “manual” to help guide them through the mystery-solving.

“The best thing about this date night is seeing the couples really take on their roles,” said Debbie Smith, MPC education assistant, “making for lively discussion and an evening where couples can get quite animated.”

The date night costs $24 per couple (includes dinner and dessert) and tickets will be available at the WSC information desk beginning Monday, July 23rd. For more information call 801.422.0020 or find us on Facebook.

About the Museum
The Museum of Peoples and Cultures (MPC) is part of Brigham Young University. The museum exists to serve the academic mission of BYU and care for anthropological, archaeological, and ethnographic collections. MPC is BYU’s Teaching Museum, and therefore is committed to student-driven exhibitions, programs, and research driven by students as part of class work and employment.  This helps them gain practical, marketable experience that transfers directly to museum careers and public service. The MPC is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
