Wild Wednesdays -- Migration Station: A Back to School Special

Are you ready to migrate back to school? Kick off another school year by learning about animal migration. Meet live animals that migrate and learn how they travel long distances to find food and shelter. Meet in the Visitor Center.

Wildwoods BASH! at the Ogden Nature Center
Friday, September 9 at 5 pm
$60 per person or $1,000 for a sponsorship table of 10
The Wildwoods BASH is an enchanted evening of dragonflies flitting above, scrumptious gourmet fare, jivin' jazz and chances to acquire the perfect nature-inspired gifts and experiences at our auctions, both silent and audible. All proceeds benefit the Ogden Nature Center's two nature preserves totaling 175 acres of open space and nature education for our community. Wild Wednesdays -- Close Encounters of the Nature Kind

Have you ever wondered what the world looks like to an ant? Using a microscope you'll get the chance to find out. With the help of a teacher/naturalist you'll have a close encounter with the nature kind.

Things With Wings -- Preschool Discovery Days

Monday, September 19 at 9:30 am, 11 am or 1 pm
Tuesday, September 20 at 9:30 am, 11 am or 1 pm
$4 for Nature Center members / $5 for non-members (Includes one child and one adult chaperone) A non-refundable deposit of 50% must be paid in advance to pre-register groups of 5 children or more.
Ages: 3-5
Learn about bats, birds and even seeds that fly as you explore nature's winged wonders. Net insects, enjoy high-flying songs, stories, games and a craft as you learn through hands-on discovery about things with wings. Pre-registration is required. Please call 801-621-7595. Space is limited.

Can you walk like a bear? Are your feet larger than a skunk's? Get the answers to these questions while learning how to identify the amazing autographs that animals leave behind.

Habitats and Homes - Girls only!
5 Saturdays, Sept 24, Oct 1, Oct 15, Oct 29 & Nov12, from 10 - 11:30 am
$25 for five classes
Ages: 2nd - 5th grade girls
Every living thing needs a home! Homes can be forests, fields or tiny mud puddles. Discover great habitats for many species of animals including birds, reptiles, mammals and more. Learn how animals live by investigating their haciendas; learn about food webs, and assist in "house cleaning" a native wildlife habitat. Earn a badge during this new program. This is a partnership series with the Girl Scouts. Participants do not need to be a girl scout to participate. Please register online at www.gsutah.org.

Keep It Simple -- A two-day plein air painting workshop with Roberta Glidden
Monday, September 19 and Tuesday, September 20 from 9 am - 4 pm
$50 for Nature Center members / $60 for non-members
Ages: 18+
With the Ogden Nature Center as your backdrop and subject matter, join artist Roberta Glidden in a two-day oil painting workshop. Reducing the view of a whole valley onto an 8 x 10" square of canvas is no easy task. Learn where to look, what subject to select, what to leave out, what color, or value range to use. Roberta will demo the basic principles of painting: design (drawing), value (light and dark masses), temperature (color), edge manipulation and texture (brushwork) and present an organized, step-by-step approach to plein air painting. Basic materials will be provided, and a list of other needed supplies will be provided to class participants. Space is limited, Please call 801-621-7595 to reserve your spot.

Great Salt Lake: A Study of Nearby Residents' Perspectives and Concerns
Thursday, September 22 from 7 pm to 9 pm

Ages: Adults
Join Dr. Carla Trentelman from Weber State University as she presents findings, perspectives and concerns about the Great Salt Lake held by the lake's nearest neighbors-residents of western Davis and Weber Counties. Community members and officials will have the chance to interact and network with resource managers and members of organizations affiliated with the lake. Light refreshments will be provided. Fresh from the Garden: Herbed Vinegars and Oils
Tuesday, September 27, 6 - 7 pm
$7 Ogden Nature Center members / $9 non-members
Ages: 12+
Teacher/naturalist Cheyenne Herland will help you combine fresh herbs from the Ogden Nature Center's organic garden with oils and vinegars to create fabulous flavor sensations. These special recipes can be used to dress up your favorite summer salads or infuse your recipes with new secret ingredients. Please bring two of your own small glass bottles. This class will meet in the L.S. Peery Education Building. Please call 801-621-7595 to reserve your spot by Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 4 pm.

Fall has arrived! Help us bring in the new season as we learn how animals and plants adapt to a changing environment of less sunlight and cooler temperatures. Don't forget to wear your best flannel shirt!

Class sizes are limited to ensure a quality experience. Call in reservations over the phone and pay with a credit card or come in person to pay with cash or checks. The Ogden Nature Center reserves the right to change instructors or cancel classes due to circumstances beyond our control including, illness, inclement weather or low attendance.
