Cascade Springs

Yesterday we took a drive to Cascade Springs. This was SUCH a great place for Fall leaves, a Sunday drive, and a nice little walk around the springs to take pictures.
NOTE: If you are wanting to take some beatiful Fall family photos for Christmas cards or whatever, this is THE BEST place and time for it! There are many little nooks and benches for picture taking, and the leaves are breathtaking!

We parked at the Upper Springs parking lot, then walked down and all around. My kids are 6 and 4, and they got a little bit tired, but did well. Next time we are going to park at the Lower Springs parking lot, and start from there. Either way, you'll be able to see it all.
How to get there:
From I-15, take the Highland/Alpine exit. Travel east for about 8 miles on State Route 92 to the Forest Service entrance station ($6.00 fee, but the pass is good for 3 days). Continue up American Fork Canyon on SR-92 (Alpine Loop Scenic Byway) for about 17 miles until you reach Cascade Scenic Drive. Turn to the northeast (left) and travel about 6 1/2 miles to the Cascade Springs parking lot. If you continue onward past the lower parking lot, you will reach Midway.

  1. Cascade Springs has consistently been one of my family's favorite places to visit since we moved to Utah 15 years ago. It doesn't matter what season you visit (spring, summer, fall): it is beautiful each time!! And Michelle is right: the photo opportunities are endless!

  2. Thank you so much for the suggestion of visiting Cascade Springs! We didn't know it existed. It was breath taking in the spring and perfect for our giant family! 12 kids ranging in age from 11-6 months old. we were able to push our double stroller through and it all worked out fantastic! The only bummer is not being able to picnic while there. But we found another location for that.

  3. I'm thinking about going this weekend and I'm wondering if I should take my stroller or backpack for my one year old. Suggestions? Thanks

    1. Either one would be fine, but if it's crowded, a stroller might be hard to maneuver. If it were me, I would take the backpack. Have fun! :)
