Cornhole – Your Family’s New Favorite Game!

101_0081

We recently discovered a game that is fairly popular back East, but is still quite unknown in Utah. It’s called Cornhole. This is a simple, fun game that’s great for campouts, tailgating, backyard parties, family reunions or any other gathering you have coming up this Summer. We even enjoy just having it in our backyard to go out and play a game here and there.

101_0068Cornhole is similar to a beanbag toss. You have a board with a hole in it, and you toss the cornhole bags and try to get them in the hole. It’s as simple as that!

The fun part comes when you try to hit the other team’s cornhole bags off the board and onto the grass. At the end of each round, you tally up the scores, and the team with the most points is the only team to score that round. Instead of scoring what they earned, their score is the difference between the two teams. The first team to reach 21 is the winner.

When learning about cornhole, I was amused and got a giggle out of how the rules are explained, and especially the Helpful Tips, on CornholeHowTo.

My kids really got into this game, and even mumbled “Let’s go outside and play cornhole” before their eyes were barely open the next morning. As we were playing one night, a neighbor’s granddaughter who was visiting here from back East, saw that we were playing cornhole and was so excited to come and play with us!

“This is huge back home in Ohio!” said Enjoy Utah reader Mandy. “Everyone is super into it and gets custom boards made and everything.”

My kids are already brainstorming ideas of ways to customize a family set of cornhole boards and bags.

We got our cornhole boards and bags from local Utah company AllCornhole.com. They were really nice and super easy to work with! Just like in Ohio, you can also have your own custom made corn hole supplies. View their website for a complete list of cornhole supplies available.

I was provided with a complimentary sample of cornhole supplies to try out for my review. I was not compensated financially, nor was I required or persuaded to write any specific type of review. The opinions and views expressed are all my own.
