Geocaching is a fun, modern twist on the old-fashioned treasure hunt.
Your treasure map is a GPS (Global Positioning Satellite) unit, and will tell you the coordinates of “buried treasure” (cache) in the area. Inside each “treasure box” you will find a logbook and a selection of free small gifts. Sign the book and claim your prize!
If you find a “travel bug” (a marked coin that visitors are asked to move from park to park), move it to another park and don’t forget to take a picture of you moving it!
Caches can be found at many of the Utah State Parks, and all participating parks offer free rentals of Magellan GPS units. You can also download a GPS app on your smartphone.
For a list of participating state parks and more information about geocache“treasure box” coordinates and the program, visit the Utah State Parks website.
Thanks a ton for writing such a wonderful blog with beautiful images.
