Sphinxes and Sweethearts
The BYU Museum of Peoples and Cultures (MPC) invites couples to celebrate Valentine’s Day at its Egyptian-themed date night: Sphinxes and Sweethearts. The date night will take place on Friday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m.
“This date night offers a fun experience for couples,” Samantha Gilbert, promotions manager at the MPC, said. “It’s a great way to get out of the house and learn something new during an exciting and eventful evening.”
Sphinxes and Sweethearts offers fun prizes, learning experiences, and great food. Couples will have the chance to win prizes through different activities including: a mummy-wrapping race, a set of three different games (Pyramid, Egyptian Balderdash, and “Matching of the Gods”), and painting hieroglyphics. Mediterranean refreshments will also be provided for the couples to enjoy.
“The couples always have a lot of fun,” Gilbert said. “We usually have people come to our other date nights because they enjoyed Sphinxes so much.”
Tickets for Sphinxes and Sweethearts are $10 a couple and will be available for purchase at the WSC information desk beginning Monday, February 11th.
The MPC hosts events to serve the academic mission of BYU and care for anthropological, archaeological, and ethnographic collections in the custody of the University. Educating visitors through thrilling events allows the MPC to branch out in creative ways that benefit the BYU community.
