Information taken from the Lick The Pole website:
It's about thirty below zero, and there it sits, one shining metal mast standing in all its glory, thrusting thru the snow pointing to the heavens. As if common sense and fear of pain weren't enough, you succumb to sticking your wet tongue to the coldest object known to man. Yet another Natural Selection Survivor was born and you swore to never do something so stupid again!
Here you sit, maybe decades later, maybe less than a year, looking over a new winter time challenge! The Lick the Pole Obstacle Course Fun Run, invites you...no we Triple Dog Dare YOU, to come join on the most fun you can have galloping 5K merrily thru the cold and snow. As if running on packed snow wasn't enough, we've added twists and turns, climbing walls, cargo nets, tubes, and who knows what other surprises we'll come up with for this event. So get out of the valley inversion to for some fun in the winter sun and come test your mettle (or should we say metal) against something besides your lip! Come on out and lick the pole... we Triple Dog Dare Ya!

COURSE
For one day only, we've secured permission to use this pristine world class cross country ski venue to send you and other winter thrill seekers over the frozen river and through the snow packed woods for this obstacle course fun run. As if running on packed snow wasn't enough, we've added twists and turns, climbing walls, cargo nets, tubes, and who knows what other surprises we'll come up with for this event. Course map available on the COURSE page.
WHAT TO WEAR
You can pretty much wear the same sort of clothing and footwear that you would wear to go for a jog around your neighborhood in the Winter. So, cold-weather running apparel is your best bet...things like running tights/pants, long sleeve wicking tops (i.e. not cotton), gloves, hat and regular running shoes or even trail running shoes. Dress in layers so you can add/remove as you either heat up or cool down. Several light weight layers are better than one big bulky/heavy layer (like a big Winter coat). Here is a good article about what to wear for cold weather running - ARTICLE.
PARKING INFO
Parking will be available in the main Soldier Hollow stadium/competition center (not the lodge) parking lot as well as at other designated areas throughout the Soldier Hollow Legacy Park facility. Staff/signage will be on hand to assist in directing traffic flow with parking.
EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY
Zazoosh Sports Photography will be photographing all the chilly fun, so don't worry...they'll be sure to capture you at your best! Preview images will be available at www.zazoosh.com approximately one week after the event. You will also receive an email notification for when those images are available.
That was an exciting race event, thanks for sharing ! Good luck to all the participants, looking forward for a successful race event.
