The Assassin's New Friend

Springville— On October 28th the Little Brown Theatre will be opening its doors for the first time in six years with “a criminal lawyer, an executioner, and a guilt ridden reporter.”

The Assassin’s New Friend: A Thriller by John Kaasik, the theater’s first production, will be making its Utah debut just in time for Halloween. The play revolves around Brian, a sarcastic journalist who, against the wishes of his wife, spends his time and talent writing “true crime” novels. Brian’s hunger for success lands him right in one of his own stories when he entertains a late night visit from an eccentric, seemingly disturbed intellectual named Kendrick.

Before he realizes what has happened, his neighbor, Douglas, a criminal lawyer with a reputation for keeping scum on the streets, is begging Brian for his life. Little does Brian know this is just the beginning of a rapid and wild turn of events that will keep the audience guessing as they struggle to stay just one step ahead of the mastermind, whoever that may be.
