Family Fun With The Utah Grizzlies

Photobucket
Located at The Maverik Center in West Valley City, the Utah Grizzlies hockey games are fun for all members of the family. Whether you are cheering for the team, dancing to the macarena in hopes of getting on the big screen, pigging out on nachos with cheese and a Coke, or getting a high five from Grizzbee, you're guaranteed to walk away at the end of the night feeling energized and excited, anticipating the next home game! (Watch a video of highlights at the end of this post.)

PhotobucketBecause the Utah Grizzlies games are always packed with "hidden" specials, you never know what you will walk away with! While attending a Utah Grizzlies game, we have received free tickets to an upcoming game, free desserts at Chili's, free pan pizza from Pizza Hut, upcoming movie premier tickets... the list goes on and on! Attend a Utah Grizzlies hockey game and see what you walk away with! They also have 2 for 1 nights, family nights (where kids tickets are completely free), $1 food special nights, and much more!

PhotobucketOnce you've attended a few games, you'll start picking out your favorite players. My kids really like to cheer for "#3, Simon Ferguson"! When he's not on the ice, they're looking for him, and when he is on the ice, they're cheering louder than any other fan! In their words, he's "the greatest hockey player ever born!...He is SO good!"

PhotobucketAnother family favorite is Grizzbee, the team's mascot. He keeps the crowd energized and entertained, and delivers many laughs throughout the course of the game. In 2003 he was named the state's best mascot by Salt Lake City Weekly. He's well-known for swallowing fans' heads in one gulp, spraying confetti on a crowd of unsuspecting spectators, shooting t-shirts out into the loudest group of fans, smashing his face into the glass, and high-fiving fans as he passes by. The "Grizz Kids Club" is great for kids, and members receive special perks like free game tickets, t-shirts, free kids meals at Chili's, and many more fun things!

PhotobucketWhile at the Utah Grizzlies hockey game, if you hear a song come on that requires you to stand up and boogie down (ie; the macarena, chicken dance, or YMCA), do it! You never know... you just might see yourself on the big screen! There is a lot of fan involvement at the Utah Grizzlies hockey games, and even the shyest of people get "sucked in" to the fun!

About the Utah Grizzlies hockey team:

PhotobucketThe Grizzlies hockey team moved to Utah and become the Utah Grizzlies during the 1995-1996 hockey season. That same season they were also named the best team in the IHL. In 2001 when IHL ceased operations, the Utah Grizzlies moved to the AHL for the next four years. The Utah Grizzlies are now a part of the ECHL Hockey League. Over the last 16 years, the Utah Grizzlies have been at .500 or better 13 times. Many former Utah Grizzlies players are now playing in the NHL.

PhotobucketThe Utah Grizzlies are involved in many local charities. They auction off their jerzees for charity, participate in an MDA night, and wear pink for breast cancer, among many other things. Grizzbee and the team makes over 150 community appearances per year. Some of their community involvement includes:
  • Fundraising
  • Educational Programs
  • Grizzlies' Kids Charities
