FREE SL County Library Special Events - September

Below is a list of many of the FREE, fun events happening at Salt Lake County Libraries. For the address of each library, scroll to the bottom. Wednesday Sept. 1st

Pajama-Rama: 7p to 7:30p, Come for stories and fun in the Children's area of the library. You can wear your PJs if you want. - Sandy Library


Friday Sept. 3rd

Freaky Friday Activity: 3:30p to 4:30p, Elementary Ages, Join us for fun Friday afternoon activities such as dragons, rockets, dinosaurs, and more. - Hunter Library


Saturday Sept. 4th

Read Rover A Story: 11a to 12:30p, Ruth Vine Tyler Library- Come read to a dog! Elliot and Rusty, Intermountain Therapy dogs, will be here to give kids a great, low-stress reading experience. Space is limited so registration is required. Register at the Tyler Library information desk or call 944-7642.


Tuesday Sept. 7th

Let's Play Music: 10:15a to 11a, Sing, learn to play instruments and have FUN all at the same time. Ages 2-6, Riverton Library

Zumba: 7p to 8p, Ruth Vine Tyler Library, Join us for a fun way to exercise with a Zumba program.

Owl Tales: 7p to 8p, West Jordan Library, Families - Ogden Nature Center Meet three owls that live in Utah and discover the fascinating facts and fiction surrounding them. What makes owls so special? What helps them survive? Where do they live and what do they eat? Then see the movie Legend of the Guardians: the Owls of Ga’hoole opening in theaters on September 24


Thursday Sept. 9th

"The Bluebird" Puppet Show: 10:30am to 11a, Sandy Library, The little grey bird gets to choose what color she wants to be. After some deliberation, she decides blue is the most beautiful color of all. After she dives into the blue lake three times, she turns a lovely shade of blue. The wolf tries it as well, but the ending result isn't quite what he wants...

Sports: Break The Record: 4p to 5p, Sandy Library, Ages-K-6th graders. Come play a variety of games to try and top your personal best


Friday Sept. 10th

Saturday Sept. 11th

Wild Wonders - Uniquely Me: 2p to 3p, Families, South Jordan Library- Most everyone has something about themselves that they’re not fond of, from the skunk’s awful smell to the ring-tail’s big, buggy eyes. Explore with Hedgie as he see what makes him and others unique in their own special way. Listen to a story unfold with live animals in a fun, interactive way and after the story ends, meet some of the animals up close.


Monday Sept. 13th

Tarzan and Jane: 7p to 7:45p, Visit the jungle with Jane Porter and listen to stories of the adventures that Tarzan had growing up in the jungle with the apes. Discover how Tarzan played jokes on his brothers and sisters in the ape world and how he learned to read and write and eventually speak. Costumes, music, and craft included. Based on the books by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Ages 6 and older. - West Valley Library

Roald Dahl's "The Witches" movie: 7pm to 8:30pm - Bingham Creek Library - Celebrate Roald Dahl's birthday by watching the movie "The Witches".

Zumbatomic--7p to 8p Join Anna for a Zumba fitness class. Zumba is a fun way to dance and also get some exercise! This class is geared towards children but adults can join in. For more information call 801-944-7547. No registration required. - Magna Library

Amigos y Libros: 7p to 7:45p, West Jordan Library, Families. Join us for Spanish/English fun with stories, songs and more. Vengamos por diversiones en español y inglés con cuentos, canciónes y mas.

After School Movie: Cars: 4p to 5:30p, West Jordan Library, School age kids. Zoom over after school to watch Disney's movie Cars.


Saturday Sept. 18th

Popsicle Catapault: 4pm to 5:30pm - Come and make a cool mini catapault with popsicle sticks, then try to win for distance and accuracy. Prize for winners! - Bingham Creek Library


Monday Sept. 20th

Dragon Fun: 4p to 4:45p, Fancy yourself a dragon catcher? Then join us for dragon stories, games and a fantastic craft. Ages 5-11 - Riverton Library


Friday Sept. 24th

Owl Tales: 11a to 12p, Taylorsville Library, All ages. School's out today! Get ready for the Guardians of Legend movie with Melissa Robinson of the Ogden Nature Center. See three live owls native to Utah. Learn about the adaptations that help owls survive in their environment and what’s on their menu. This program will be outside, weather permitting. No registration required.


Monday Sept. 27th

Ginger's Spooky Tales: 7p to 8p, Taylorsville Library, Families. Award-winning storyteller, Ginger Parkinson will spin slightly spooky tales for young spooks. No registration required.
