REVIEW: GameWorks at The Gateway

Last weekend we had the chance to check out GameWorks at The Gateway in Salt Lake City, and had a great time!

Here are the top four things we loved about GameWorks
(Watch a short video at the end of this post of highlights)

  1. Food! Besides having fun arcade games, they have a section where you can sit down for a yummy meal before heading into the arcade. This isn’t just greasy pizza and “kids’ food”. They have a large variety of food to order, and even an $8 lunch menu that includes soups, salads, tacos and sandwiches. View their complete menu.

  2. Cards instead of tokens and tickets! - This was probably my favorite thing about GameWorks. -One of the most annoying things about taking kids to an arcade is juggling the tokens for the games, and the endless roll of tickets that come out of the games that you can redeem for prizes at the end. Half of them get dropped on the ground and lost, which always results in tears at the end. At GameWorks, you are given a card that is already loaded with the “tokens” you need to play the games. To begin each game, you swipe the card, and the game begins. Afterward, instead of a long roll of paper tickets, the number of tickets you won is automatically loaded onto your card for easy keeping.  When you are read to redeem “tickets” for prizes, you simply take your card to the prize redemption area. You can also combine “tickets” from multiple cards into one.

  3. Classic games, as well as new favorites. Everybody loves the classic like skeeball and air hockey, but they also have new games such as PacMan air hockey, and a roller coaster simulator.

  4. Events and Parties. Information about booking an event and party can be found on their website: GameWorks is the perfect place for your next event! GameWorks Salt Lake features delicious food, signature cocktails & craft beers, a full service sports bar, an eSports Console Center, 2500 square feet of private rooms for events and a large arcade & video game floor. GameWorks is known for providing exciting & creative options for all groups of 10 to 800. Sports viewing parties can also be booked, and are a popular event for groups at GameWorks.

I was provided with four complimentary passes to check out GameWorks arcade and food to write my review. I was not compensated financially, nor was I required or persuaded to write any specific type of review. The views and opinions expressed in this review are all my own.
