Preschool Marching Band to Commemorate Week of the Young Child

Neighborhood House

SALT LAKE CITY—Neighborhood House and Discovery Gateway children’s museum are marking the Week of the Young Child™ with the pomp of a parade. At 10:30am on Friday, April 19th preschool-aged children will march along the sidewalk of the Gateway Mall to celebrate this national event honoring young children and those who make a difference in their lives.

Young children and their families depend on high-quality education and care, which help children get a great start and bring lasting benefits to Salt Lake City. Week of the Young Child™ is a time to recognize the importance of early learning and early literacy, and to celebrate the teachers and policies that bring early childhood education to young children.

“All young children need and deserve high-quality early learning experiences that will prepare them for life,” said Kelly Condie, Preschool and Youth Program Director of Neighborhood House. “Week of the Young Child™ is a time for Salt Lake City to recognize that Early Years are Learning Years® for all young children.”

Kirsta Albert, Development and External Relations Director at Discovery Gateway, added, “Throughout our 35-year history, first as The Children’s Museum of Utah, and now as Discovery Gateway, we have recognized the importance of quality preschool programming, and have placed a focus on providing the best possible education value in this area to our members and guests. It is our pleasure to partner with Neighborhood House to celebrate the youngest – and most treasured – members of our community.”
