Places In Utah With Free WiFi

Free WiFi
One of the biggest challenges of being a work at home mom is feeling like my kids are bored and stuck at home when I have work to do. The other day we found a great solution to this: Find a fun place with free WiFi so mom can work, and the kids can play! We went to McDonalds and they played for three hours while I got some valuable work time in. I have also noticed that most of these places have outlets to plug your laptop into, a bonus if you have a laptop battery like mine that doesn't last very long without being plugged in.

You can find a complete listing at OpenWiFiSpots, but below is a list of our favorite places with free WiFi that is fun for kids, and workable for mom. Bring your laptop and your happy, excited kids, and get the best of both worlds!

The Library
Many of your local libraries will have free WiFi. If your kids love to read, this is a great option for you. The downtown Salt Lake City library has a large kids section, and tables for mom to set up at.

Boondocks Fun Center
With two Utah locations in Draper and Kaysville, Boondocks Fun Center is a great place for the kids to enjoy a fun afternoon. GoKarts and other fun activities will keep your kids occupied while you get some work done. Because younger children will need to be supervised, this is a great option for older kids.

Jump Around Utah
An indoor family fun center with inflatables for the kids to jump around on and get all of their energy out.

Kangaroo Zoo
Another fun, indoor bounce playland. Kangaroo Zoo has three Utah locations in Pleasant Grove, North Salt Lake, and Ogden.

Liberty Park
Located at 600 E. 1300 So. in Salt Lake City, Liberty Park is a great place to bring your laptop and work while your kids have a fun day playing and running.

Copperton Park
Located in Copperton, this park is one of my kids' favorite parks to play. It's rarely crowded, and has a fun pyramid-style playground.

Burger King
Some Burger King restaurants have playgrounds, while others do not. Make sure before you head out that the one you are going to has a playground to keep the kids occupied.

McDonalds
All of the McDonalds I have been to offer free WiFi. The kids love the playground, and because the playground is usually separate from the other part of the restaurant, you won't feel like your kids are too far away.

Village Inn
While Village Inn does not have a playground, it does have free pie days on Wednesdays! Go in and order drinks for you and your kids, and get free pie to eat while getting some work done. This option is best for older kids.

Mobile Hot Spot
Another great option is to create a mobile hot spot with your cell phone. This will allow you to connect your laptop to your cell phone's WiFi anywhere you go. Check with your current cell carrier to see if it's available in your network, and the prices and options available.
