FREE Salt Lake County Library Events - November

Here is a list of some fun activities going on at the Salt Lake County Libraries this month. Each library has their own crafts, story times, book groups, etc.

Mont Magic's Have A Magic Thanksgiving
This special Mont "Magic" Dutson, the expert family entertainer, presentation involves the magic of events and celebrations of Thanksgiving. Can you find the Turkey (hint: it's not the magician!) FREE magic tricks for all the children!

Little Bear's Tale - Puppet Show
For ages 2 - 5. Join us for a fun puppet show presented by the Utah Puppet Theater.

CLAU Fall Book Festival featuring Kristyn Crow
Kristyn Crow‘s delightful award winning picture books are filled with rhythm, rhyme, and repetition that will make you laugh, clap, tap, snap, stomp, pound, smile, gasp, jiggle your feet, wiggle in your seat, giggle to the beat, dream, imagine, listen, wonder, hum, drum, sing, or belch really loud. Okay, maybe not belch really loud, but kids and parents alike will have some really loud fun with Kristyn. Don't miss it! For all ages.

Public Domain String Band
For families. Come join us for an evening of old-time Southern mountain music, fiddle tunes and waltzes. Their music has been called 'the rock and roll of hillbilly music.' Their instruments include the clawhammer banjo, concertina, fiddle, guitar and hammered dulcimer.

Toy Story 3 - Family Movie
For families. It's movie night at the Library! This month we will be showing Toy Story 3, rated G.

How To Train Your Dragon - Family Movie Night
Come to Herriman Library's first ever FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT! We'll be watching a recently released animated movie about a young boy with dragon problems. Popcorn will be provided. Families are welcome to bring pillows and blankets. Outside snacks are okay, but drinks must have lids and snacks must be easily cleaned up.

National Gaming Day Free For All
We will have gaming from dawn till dusk (well 10 am to 5 pm anyway)! There will be "DDR Extreme 2" from 10-1 and "Guitar Hero 2" from 2-5. Do you have skills in Super Smash Bro., Mario Kart, or Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii? We want to see!! Or...maybe you're old school, we'll have board games at the reference desk. Families are welcome, there's something for all ages. Any personal games or equipment brought from home must be appropriate for families, and are the responsibility of the owners. (NOTE: Each library has their own gaming day program....please see each individual library for their exact description CLICK HERE).

Pilgrims!
Step back in time to experience the pilgrims coming to the New World on the Mayflower in the 1700’s! Learn with maps and hands on experiences how our country first appeared to these early settlers. Receive recipes to make with your family to celebrate the fest shared between the Indians and the Pilgrims. Dancing and a craft included. Fun for the whole family!

Soul Soup: The Ingredients For Total Relaxation
Ages 25 +. Popular local celebrity, Angel Shannon will help you create your own customized recipe for relaxation! This class is designed to give you clarity of each moment and the gift of allowance in your life. You’ll make Soul Soup with ancestral ingredients and uncover the flavor that you bring to the pot! Create peace through simple meditation, mindfulness and thinking from the heart. Class starts promptly at 7 p.m. Please bring a writing journal. (No children please. Children's craft activity scheduled to coincide for your convenience.)

Thanksgiving Origami with Ginger Brakke. Ginger will be showing us how to make four Thanksgiving origami projects including a pumpkin and a turkey. For kids ages 6 and up.

Families. Celebrate Diwali with Divya Narayanan. She has over 20 years experience performing traditional Indian Classical Dances. Divya will perform for us and teach ethnic Indian dances. No registration required.
