While attending a funeral in Richfield, UT over the weekend, we decided to take I-70 home and stop at a few places along the way. We thought it was just going to be a quick stop at the Fremont Indian State Park, which we had never been to, and we ended up spending three hours there! We could have easily spent all day if we didn't have a 3 hour drive home and a setting sun to deal with!
Discover artifacts, petroglyphs, and pictographs left behind by the Fremont Indians. During construction of Interstate 70, the largest known Fremont Indian village was uncovered. This museum preserves treasures from the site, including pottery, baskets, and arrowheads. Spend a day at the museum, and then camp at nearby Castle Rock Campground. This is easily a trip you can make in one day, if you don't want to stay overnight anywhere! Get up early on a Saturday morning, drive down, then come back that same night! We were able to drive to Richfield, attend a funeral, spend three hours at Fremont Indian State Park, then drive home by 10pm.

We had SO much fun while visiting the Fremont Indian State Park! The kids absolutely LOVED the Childrens' Area!
Outside of the museum, they had a lot of immediate things to see. You could see many petroglyphs from your vehicle, or park your vehicle and hike to certain areas. When you go in the visitors center, they give you a paper that tells about all the things to see, if they're easy or hard hikes, and how long the hike is. They have really made visiting the artifacts super easy. It really is a perfect adventure for all levels of adventurer (as you can see, we were in dress clothes and dress shoes, and we were able to see a TON and have a blast!)
One of our favorite things we saw was the 100 Hands Cave.
