- The Days of '47 All Horse Parade is fun for people of all ages. Entries in the parade represent the finest horses, carriages, wagons, drill teams and authentic costumes in the West. You will likely find the "Cold Water Gang" stirring up trouble before, during and after the parade. Bring the whole family and join us for an exciting time at one of the country's largest parades featuring a variety of horse breeds along with their colorfully costumed riders.

July 16 Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert (more info)
- There will be guest artists for this year's Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra. Check back frequently for the announcement of the guest artists and to learn additional details. The concert will be presented in the LDS Conference Center. The program will showcase the Choir and wonderful music from its repetoire.

July 17 *First Encampment Hike (more info)

- The hike begins at 7 a.m. at Donner Park (2770 East and 990 South, east of Hogle Zoo) and ends at First Encampment Park (1700 South and 500 East), near the site where the pioneers camped in the Salt Lake Valley on July 22, 1847. The hike is five miles long. Please arrange your transportation accordingly.

July 17 Youth Parade (more info)
10 a.m. Route starts at 600 East and 500 South, runs west on 500 South to 200 East and ends at the City and County Building (Washington Square), 200 East and 500 South in Salt Lake City.
- Utahns can celebrate Days of '47 activities by watching or participating in one of the largest youth parades in the United States on July 17th. In just a few blocks, you will see marching bands, creatively decorated floats, performing groups and, of course, several thousand children having a grand time. Performing groups clothed in traditional dress will delight spectators with instruments or vocal and dance routines from around the globe.

- Following the Youth Parade, one of the largest and oldest such parades in the nation, The Days of '47 invites children and families to celebrate at our sixth annual Youth Festival. At the end of the Parade route, Youth Parade participants and spectators will find free activities, games and attractions for hours of family fun, while learning important principles of safety, service, prevention and cultural diversity.

July 22 Pioneers of Progress Awards and Dinner (more info)

- As part of its celebration of Utah’s pioneer heritage, The Days of ’47 will honor seven modern-day Utahns as Pioneers of Progress in 2010. The tradition of granting these awards began in 1995 and has continued to recognize outstanding individuals whose lives exemplify the pioneer legacy of industry and integrity and whose works benefit present and future generations.

July 19 and 20 Days of '47 Float Preview Party (more info)
- Visit South Towne Expo Center on July 19 and 20, 2010 to preview many of the Parade floats and join the excitement as Parade day nears. The party begins at 11:00 a.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m. on both days. The South Towne Expo Center has plenty of parking and Trax is a short distance away.
- Also enjoy bands, clowns, entertainment and much more. Free admission.

July 23 *Brother Brigham's Ball (more info)
- There is no better way to show your appreciation for Utah's founding pioneers than to dance and sing. Join the party at This Is The Place Heritage Park on the evening of July 23rd to kick up your heels. The whole family will enjoy scootin' across the floor to the tunes of our band.
- You'll leave refreshed and more appreciative of our pioneering history. Can you imagine rising on the 24th to walk another 15 miles? Instead, the Sunrise Service beckons at 7 a.m. and the Parade starts at 9 a.m. See you there! Don't forget our Heritage Night Rodeo at 7 p.m. on the evening of the 24th. We have the entire day planned for you! Just y'all come!

July 24 *Deseret News Marathon/10K/5K Fitness Walk (more info)
- Here's your chance to participate in a Days of '47 event that is fun and offers some exercise. On July 24, the Marathon joins the Parade route in Salt Lake City. Run to the cheers of thousands of spectators along the Parade route!
The starting time for the Marathon is 5:30 a.m., beginning at the top of Big Mountain above Emigration Canyon. Prizes will be awarded to male and female 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.

July 24 Sunrise Service (more info)
- Begin your 24th of July holiday with a flag ceremony conducted by the Mormon Battalion in the true spirit of the pioneers, while honoring the Days of '47 Royalty.
- The Sunrise Service begins at 7 a.m. in the Tabernacle on Temple Square.
- Free admission and no tickets are required.

July 24 The Days of '47 KSL 5 Parade (more info)
- 9 a.m. Route starts at South Temple and State Street running east to 200 East, turns south to 900 South, then turns east to Liberty Park at 600 East in Salt Lake City
- (This is usually televised on Channel 5 KSL if you would like to watch from home!)

July 23 and 24 *Pioneer Heritage Festival (more info)

- The Days of '47 and This Is The Place Heritage Park invite you to a true pioneer experience -- grab your hat and c'mon up!
- The arrival of the pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley was the end of a long journey, but it was the beginning of the settlement of the West. After the Days of '47 Parade, come up to This Is The Place Heritage Park and see what life was like in the settlements of 19th Century Utah. We'll be here on Friday and Saturday, too, July 23rd and 24th.
- Watch the blacksmith working at his forge, learn how wool was spun into thread or visit with the furniture maker. Kids can meet farm animals face-to-face at the Petting Corral, ride ponies and choose from a number of hands-on crafts to make. Everyone enjoys a ride around the village on the train or you can take a leisurely horse-drawn wagon ride.
- There will be live music, great food at the Monument Cafe and plenty of things to see and do in 40 original or replica homes and businesses straight out of Utah's history. You might even meet Brigham Young!
- Wherever your family tree has its roots -- early Utah or around the world -- the pioneering spirit is everyone's heritage. Celebrate it at This Is The Place Heritage Park!
